The Perfect Guy

After both having been single for over a year, we begin to wonder why it is that we are not in relationships. Although it may partly be attributed to our fear of commitment, we figure that it is likely that we have just not found the perfect guy yet. To help us determine what exactly the perfect guy is, we have devised a list of character traits that we feel should be exhibited by “The Perfect Guy”.

Unfortunately, we came to the conclusion that there is no such thing as “The Perfect Guy” because not only are opinions and feelings dynamic, the traits that can be seen as perfect may often have their downfalls.

Perfect Guy Questionable Trait Number One: Generosity
This one treats you like a princess, buys you flowers, buys you presents, buys you anything your heart desires, drops at your feet at any given moment. This is fun for a while, but then you begin to feel like yelling "give me some room please!" He makes you feel like the most wonderful person in the world. This then makes you put on weight through some amazing Jedi mind trick.

Perfect Guy Questionable Trait Number Two: Fantastic personality
This one respects you, gives you your space without you having to ask, intellectually stimulates you, makes you laugh, knows exactly what to say and do at the right moments, surprises you with things that will make you smile. This is almost always a winner. Problem is that these guys often have the wonderful personalities generally due to lacking in the looks department.

Perfect Guy Questionable Trait Number Three: Attractiveness
Ladies always want a guy that is physically attractive. Great facial features, buff body, great style and general flair. Genetics and surgery mean that there are some guys like this that are available. Unfortunately it is more likely that you will have to settle for Brad the Fat Dad rather than Brad Pitt. And even if you do find the Brad Pitt of your dreams it is quite likely that you will be competing with a large proportion of the female population for his attention.

Perfect Guy Questionable Trait Number Four: Socially adept
This one that will comfortably fit in with all of your friends, family and acquaintances. He will sit and listen to Nanna ramble on, or act interested while you and the girls explain the importance of matching your earrings to your shoes. He always knows the right thing to say and the two of you are so conversationally compatible that people wish they had what you have. Problem with this is that you may find that you never have this perfect guy to yourself as everyone else enjoys his company as much as you do.

After considering the traits that can make a potential partner, it soon becomes apparent that no matter which person you encounter, none will truly have it all. However, when you meet the right person they may show all the best aspects of these traits and only you see it.

Somebody once said, "nobody is perfect until you fall in love with them"... we couldn't agree more.
